Sub-Lead Level Artist

OWLCAT GAMES was founded in 2016. The studio employs experienced developers who worked on projects such as Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, and is currently working on titles Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn.

TASKS:

  • Managing a team of Level Artists team: task planning, prioritization, time management and quality control;
  • Reviewing levels and providing feedback on composition, lighting, environmental detail, and gameplay readability;
  • Mentoring and guiding a team: onboarding, feedback, training on pipelines and tools;
  • Level dressing in Unity, including blockout iteration and final scene polishing;
  • Placing environment assets, props, decals, VFX, and gameplay markers;
  • Working on level lighting and atmosphere in collaboration with Lighting, VFX, and Environment Artists;
  • Contributing to sprint planning and task estimation;
  • Сollaborating closely with Level Designers, Game Designers, Technical, Lighting Artists and Programmers;
  • Improving pipeline through documentation, guidelines, checklists, and technical standards;
  • Monitoring technical performance of scenes.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Level Artist or Environment Artist and a portfolio showcasing your work;
  • At least one released game title you worked on;
  • Team leadership experience: coordinating artists, participating in planning and reviews, and owning the final quality of levels;
  • Strong experience working with Unity: scenes, prefabs, NavMesh, LODs, light probes, basic lighting setup;
  • Experience working with 3ds Max/Maya/Blender;
  • Understanding of URP/HDRP(or similar rendering pipelines);
  • Understanding of basic composition principles, flow of levels and optimisation (LOD, instancing/batching, streaming).
  • Russian language skills at B2 level are necessary due to the team's Russian-language production pipeline and internal communication.

    Pluses:
  • Experience working with Houdini  and procedural tools;
  • Skills in level design or game design.
